First Recap symposium is a fact!

Placed by Audrey Meulendijks for Regional Care Portals at 2013-11-06

On Tuesday the 5th of November 2013  we organised our first Recap symposium in De Zwarte Doos (TU/e) in Eindhoven.  The programme of this event included presentations and discussions regarding the developments within the hub Eindhoven-Kempen who have a main focus on intelligent organisation of care.

Prof.dr.ir. Twan Basten (TU/e & TNO-ESI) was the chair of the day and opened the symposium. Project manager of the Recap project, Marcel de Pender (Brainport Development), started the introduction of the project with the premier of the Recap film. This was followed by a presentation of Lieven de Maesschalck (Thomas More Kempen) about a secure connection between patient & caregivers and a presentation of body sensors for personal health monitoring by Walter de Raedt from Imec. During the break(s) participants could visit demonstrations and poster presentations in the lounge area.

After the break guest speaker Hans van Dijk (Kempenhaege) gave the audience insight in detection and monitoring from an epilepsy point of view and Erik Korsten (Catharina Ziekenhuis Eindhoven & TU/e) shared his experience within the Recap project and the on-going developments related to heart failure in the Catharina Hospital. In the afternoon Paul Brandt (TU/e & TNO) ended the series of presentations with his quest for semantic interoperability. After all the interesting presentations it was time for the audience to do the talking. Erik Korsten led a roundtable focusing on the main question ‘Telehealth, is it really the future?’ which was further deepened in a workshop led by Lieven de Maesschalck in which the audience had to come up with possibilities and barriers of e-health and the advantages for the user and for society. The input of the workshop will be analysed and the results will be placed online soon. After some final remarks of the chair of the day the symposium was concluded  with a networking reception.

We would like to thank all speakers and participants for their active participation. Pictures and presentations of the symposium will be uploaded soon.
