The following movie shows a recap of the session we organised during the European Open Days in Brussels. The theme of the session was 'Implementing health innovations through European collaboration'.
There was no doubt about the importance of European collaboration among the participants. European collaboration is needed to gain insights in other markets and to reach the end-users. Also, the societal challenges that we are facing today cannot be solved on a regional scale, but ask for a European approach.
Ruut Louwers, Programme Director of the Joint Technical Secretariat, said that “knowing how to work together starts with knowing what the differences are”. Sharing and disseminating knowledge and experiences during workshops are a good first step in discovering those differences and getting to know possible collaboration partners. Moreover, initiatives like Health Cluster Europe are needed to stimulate European collaboration.
For SMEs, ways were discovered of how to enter the healthcare market in other regions and countries. Living labs might be the answer to this. In living labs, SMEs can test and develop their products while at the same time get to know the region and demonstrate their products to new consumer groups. Health Cluster Europe has started to develop an inventory of all Living Labs in its network.
